11 Ways to Get Free Gift Cards

1. Use Twitter Parties

Let’s start with this one since it’s the closest to real free money that you can get!
We all know that social media is growing every day and increasingly becoming a part of our daily lives.
And to take advantage of this popularity a lot of businesses giveaway stuff, like free gift cards, to draw attention to their products and services.
For example, sometimes you see small businesses and website owners host Twitter parties where they giveaway free gift cards to people who tweet using a specific hashtag for a certain period of time.
This is done to promote the business and get the word out.

2. Enter Blogger Giveaway Contests

Another way win free gift cards is through giveaways. There are a few kind of contests bloggers run.
  1. One is a sponsored one where a company sponsors a contest in order to promote their service or product and they giveaway prizes.
  2. The second kind of contest is the one where bloggers themselves giveaway free prizes that include gift cards in order to get more likes, tweets, follows, etc.

3. Transfer your prescriptions to a new pharmacy

These days there are drug stores at every corner. Pharmacies have to literally giveaway stuff to get people to switch over to them.
These deals aren’t constantly ongoing, but they do pop up pretty frequently.
You can earn anywhere from $25 to $100 or more in free gift cards.
Here are a few pharmacies that give you free gift cards for transferring your prescription:
You can find more deals by searching on Google for phrases like:
  • “Prescription transfer coupons”
  • “Switch prescription get free gift card”
It’s an easy way to earn a free gift card or two for doing something that you might have done anyway.

4. Earn points on a Rewards Card and redeem for GCs

I’ll be the first to admit that your mileage may vary with this technique, but there are certainly a few people out there who have learned how to make it work.
If you sign up for a Rewards card (and just about everyone offers them nowadays, even Amazon) then you can potentially be earning cash back on every purchase you make.
This is a good way to recoup some losses from your spending.
But there is, of course, one major catch…
You have to pay off every month or else you’ll pay more in interest than you gain as points.
It is a good method, but you shouldn’t pursue it if you’re not in a fairly stable place, financially.
Falling behind on your Rewards card payments would be a detriment that would far outweigh the initial benefits.

5. Test Drive cars!

What’s the first thing every car dealer wants you to do?
Get on their lot!
You have seen the ads – Golden Key, Win a free car, etc.
That’s one way they get you to step foot in their lot (and once there, they know how to get you!)
Some dealers also give you money for test driving new cars, other give you free gift cards. Either way, it’s a technique that seems to work.
Why?
Because they are hoping once you drive the car you’ll grow attached to it and buy it.
How you find ’em?
Keep your eye out on your mail, local classifieds, etc.
You can also search online or use forums where people share deals and freebies.
There is actually an entire thread on FatWallet dedicated to this. People post lists of car dealerships in their local area that offer gift cards for test driving cars.

B. Earning it with Surveys

For those of you who don’t mind doing offers and surveys in return for free gift certificates (or any other gift card for that matter), here are some options.

6. Search and earn

Bing is running hard to catch up to Google in the search engine department, and they’re prepared to offer incentives to stay in the race.
Sign up for Bing Reward and you’ll build points towards gift cards with every search you make (though there is a daily cap of points to discourage people from abusing the system.)
You can even build these points by doing mobile searches, but you should be aware that the daily point cap is lower on mobile than it is on a regular PC. For more details about BingRewards read my review.

7. Shop and earn

MyPoints is something of a hybrid between Bing rewards and Swagbucks (which we’ll discuss below.)
You can sign up for InboxDollars and start earning points towards rewards for doing all kinds of stuff – taking surveys, shopping, playing games, and more. So, it’s free in terms of out-of-pocket costs, but it will require some of your time to maximize the effect.
The best part about MyPoints is definitely that they offer a lot of highly specific rewards that you can’t get from the other sites. If you aren’t into any niche like that, don’t worry, because they’ll still offer you points towards rewards like PetSmart, Target, or Amazon.
It’s also worth noting that MyPoints has a referral system, where you’ll earn points for referring your friends and family.
Now THAT is an easy way to get points!
For tips on how to maximize your earning with MyPoints, read this.

8. Watch videos and play games to earn

Swagbucks is definitely the king of the hill when it comes to GPT (Get Paid To) websites. It functions quite alike the MyPoints website we discussed above, including search engine rewards and various tasks on-site, like surveys and promotional offers.
The noteworthy thing about Swagbucks, aside from its massive popularity, is that they have a better payout rate than other websites of their kind.
A site like MyPoints will probably offer you $3 in gift cards for 300 points, but Swagbucks will offer you $5 for 450 points. That’s a 10% deduction of point cost, which can really add up over time.
When I talked about GPT sites up above, I’m referring to sites that have a similar range of activities that you can do in return for their points. These are very general, low-effort tasks. Watching videos, ads, and movie trailers, for example.
Taking surveys is another popular way to bring in the points, and yes, they do actually reward you for taking them! In fact, surveys are one of the highest rewarding activities on these sites, because they’re trying to target specific demographics.

9. Do offers to earn

Like MyPoints and Swagbucks discussed above, EarningStation is a GPT site.
They offer the usual suite of activities; surveys, web searches, and promotional shopping are all mainstays of the website.
The good news is that their gift cards are wide and varied, so you can really choose the type of reward you want.

10. Other Rewards Programs

Other than the sites mentioned above, there are a few other rewards sites worth trying as well.
Some of the oldest and most trusted online reward programs include:
  1. QuickRewards
  2. CreationRewards
  3. UniqueRewards
  4. Memolink

11. Survey Sites

Unlike our good ol’ GPT sites discussed above, there do exist some sites that are specifically focused on surveys and consumer climates.
These websites bear more to the side of, and sometimes cross into, the territory of focus groups. Your opinion as a shopper is important to them, and they’re prepared to dish out the gift cards in return for your candid opinion. Some of them will ask you to take part in actual online focus groups or to be a product tester, which will net you a higher reward in addition to some much-needed variety.
Here are a few legit ones you may want to consider:
  1. Valued Opinions
  2. PineCone Research
  3. MySurvey
  4. SurveySavvy
When it comes to these survey sites, stick only to names you’ve heard from trusted sources– there are some scammers when it comes to survey sites.

A few tips

To take advantage of these opportunities, especially the online ones, you need to have a plan. You need to get organized.
Here are some tips to help you do that.
1. Don’t spread yourself too thin
Carefully consider all of the sites above before you start going in deep on one. The biggest mistake I see when people try to take advantage of these opportunities is spreading themselves too thin. You should look into what will work best for you and commit to it, after all, you’re trying to build small amounts of points into a worthwhile sum! And that will be very hard to do if you’re on 6 different sites throughout the day.
2. Do not pay a membership fee
All of these sites should be willing to get you in the door for free. They want you to take part in their activities that are relevant to their sponsors, of course.
You are the customer and their tasks are the products, so the benefit they gain from your participation is more than enough payment.
If a site is putting up a paywall that prevents you from taking part, that’s a huge red flag. Close the page and move to somewhere that is more eager for your participation.
3. Know what information to give and what not to
Those survey-centric websites we talked about up above care who you are, personally.
They don’t need to know your name, necessarily, but they’re going to want to know how old you are, what your hobbies are, and what demographics you fit into. So, you should look elsewhere if that seems too personal for you.
Furthermore, if you do somehow end up on a sketchy website, it’ll be more important than ever to protect your information. Which leads us to…
4. Make an email address solely for the purpose of using these sites
Let’s be frank: some of these sites are going to sell your email to their affiliates, and you’re going to be getting a lot of emails.
Unless you’re comfortable relying on your primary email address’s filters (and Gmail does do an adequate job at sorting them) you’re going to want a whole new address.
This also has the added benefit of protecting you in case you do end up signing up to a website that is untrustworthy.
5. Get multiple plates spinning at once
And what I mean by this is, these sites are multi-tasking friendly. Do searches in one tab while videos play in the other, or take your phone with you and do tasks while you’re waiting for your friend to join you, or while you’re waiting for your dentist’s appointment.
You’ll get the most benefit out of these websites if you’re also maximizing your time. The participation they’re asking for isn’t too personal, so you don’t need to take it too seriously if you’re not giving them your full attention.

Advanced SystemCare

Pros:

Lots of Tools: IOBit's everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach to Advanced SystemCare means you're bound to find something useful for your machine in its massive library of tools, tweakers, and cleaners.
One-Click Fix: Despite its daunting list of options, users shouldn't have trouble finding some kind of fix-all option. When in doubt, most users will probably opt for just that.

Cons:

Lackluster Redesign: Claims of a Metro-friendly redesign amount to nothing more than color changes, font tweaks to a thinner sans-serif type, and icon packs. Many tools are shortcuts to separate applications that are visually inconsistent and offer questionable value over default tools.
Tedious Uninstallation: Advanced SystemCare's setup is like a collection of shortcuts to other downloads. SystemCare's toolbox behaves more like a glorified stub installer for IOBit's other products than a true all-in-one program. Even after uninstalling SystemCare, you're forced to uninstall each individual app separately.

Final Verdict:

At first glance, Advanced SystemCare has everything you would think you'd ever need to keep a PC in tip-top shape: uninstallers, driver updaters, and so on. However, not all are better alternatives than their stock counterparts. For example, the Windows 8 Process Explorer is a much more usable solution.
Advanced SystemCare's user experience is a mixed bag. We didn't have any trouble opting for a one-click-fix solution for many of our computer "issues," but we took that option because of information overload.
If you have absolutely no security or tweaking tools, then it might be worth taking a look at Advanced SystemCare. The uninstallation process is tedious and inefficient, because the product treats each feature as a separate app. For defrag tools, malware protection, and even process explorers, we recommend downloading separate alternatives that offer a more focused but higher-quality approach to their respective tasks.

Advanced SystemCare Free is a comprehensive PC care utility that takes one-click approach to help protect, repair and optimize your computer. Scanning and finding what other utilities might miss, it can keep your PC error-free and smoother than ever. This fantastic program is available free of charge.
Advanced SystemCare brings you the new Real-time Protector - A light yet powerful feature to protect your PC against Malware in the background and in real time.
Have you ever encountered PC crashes and not know why? After months or years of using your PC, there might be plenty of system changes that can add burdens to your PC. Advanced SystemCare Free can clean the left over stuffs and remove the craps to tidy up your PC.
Registry Repairing and Cleaning - Advanced SystemCare Free cleans the unnecessary records from your registry that might cause trouble and slow downs.
What's new in this version:
  • Christmas Skin - Added Brand-new Christmas Skin to Celebrate Christmas.
  • Smaller Screen - Resized the Window for Settings and Quick Settings to adapt Netbook and Small Screen Users.
  • Registry Fix - Further Improved the Scan Engine of Registry Fix to Save More System Resource While Scanning.
  • Expanded Database - Updated and Enhanced the Database for Malware Removal, Privacy Sweep, and Surfing Protection.

GPU Meter

GPU Meter displays information on your graphics card, from usage to temperature, as well as clock speed and other useful stats. It installs as a Windows gadget and sits on your desktop. If you want an easy way to see GPU information at a glance, GPU Meter fits the bill.
The gadget installs in seconds and places a very small window in the upper-right corner of your desktop, which you can move anywhere. Initially, GPU Meter's window was too small for us to view, but a tabbed Options menu is easily accessible from a right sidebar menu and you can enlarge the window in the Display tab, which also lets you choose Celsius or Fahrenheit for the temperature display and turn on or off specific stats for PCB Temp, Shader Clock, and more. On the main Options tab, you can set an alert for GPU temperature and opt to play a sound if the temperature goes above a user-defined temperature. The desktop gadget has a black background with each line of information in a different, vibrant color, but you can change this in the Color tab of the Option window, as well. We liked that you could choose a color code or choose from one of seven basic colors by name.
If you're interested in seeing GPU stats at a glance, GPU Meter is a great gadget to download. It's ready to go as soon as you install it, but also allows you some flexibility in what it displays and how it looks. There is a small request at the bottom of the Options window to make a donation, but it never gets in the way and you won't find any other ads, pop-ups, or banners in this free tool.

With this GPU Meter Gadget you can display your graphic card vendor, graphic card model, GPU clock speed, GPU temperature, total of GPU usage by percentage and bar, memory clock speed, total of memory usage by percentage and bar, fan speed by rpm, fan usage percentage and bar, Shader Clock Speed, PCB Temperature and Memory Controller. For the graph it can display all usage by drawing style in line or filled. For the setting you can change the gadget size up to 400%, temperature can be show in either Celsius or Fahrenheit , color adjustable for background and text and able set auto update notifier.

EzSnap

EzSnap does make it easy to grab screenshots of anything visible on your desktop, but it doesn't store them locally. Instead, you'll just get a URL that takes you to the publisher's Web site to view them. And the editing tools it promises were nowhere to be found.
When you first launch the program, you'll be asked to create an account that allows you to view image history and stats online, and while this step isn't required to use the program, it's probably best if you want to easily access and view your screenshots. This is because EzSnap doesn't save your screenshots to your hard drive, it saves them on its site, and if you don't sign up, you'll have to save the link it automatically creates if you want to view your screenshots in the future. With an account, you can go directly to your History to see your screenshots. The program sits in the System Tray and you just hit Ctrl + 1 to bring up a tool that you can use to capture any section of your screen. It works fine, but instead of displaying your screenshot afterward, you just get a message that it's been uploaded and the link has been copied to the clipboard. If you hit Ctrl + 2, you can drag existing images to a small onscreen box; these will be saved online, as well, and you'll also get a link you can paste where you like. Ctrl + 3 lets you take a Webcam pic and also upload it, automatically. While the program description mentions a photo editor, we couldn't find it on our computer or on EzSnap's Web site.
EzSnap is still in beta, which may explain the missing photo editor, but even if it had the editor, we still weren't impressed with the program's approach to saving screenshots. EzSnap is offered for free, though, and its screenshot tools are very easy to use if you're OK with not having access to the images directly on your PC.

EzSnap is a quick and pain free screenshot tool. But yet it does more. Has options for quick uploading, to upload and copied the url to your clipboard instantly ready to be pasted in to any im client, social site, email or anywhere else. EzSnap also includes a photo editor, to draw arrows, write text, blank out certain information, and so much more. EzSnap also has a quick photo uploader using another shortcut, or take a quick webcam shot of yourself for simple, and hassle free webcam sharing! It's simple, and so easy to use. You won't know how you went without it. It sits in the background just waiting for you to use it. With the advanced editor, you can go from screenshot, to facebook in literally under 5 seconds. It doesn't get any easier!

PhotoPad Image Editor

PhotoPad Image Editor doesn't have the depth of features found in pro image editors, but it does have all the basic editing tools and lets you apply some neat effects without any specialized knowledge. If you don't want to get past a steep learning curve in order to edit your images, this is a very solid download.
The program installs very quickly, but in the last step you will be prompted to download Google Chrome and set it as your default browser, so uncheck the box if you don't want this extra. PhotoPad Image Editor's plain interface has a large editing window under a File menu with all the options easily accessible, including Edit, Color, Effects, Tools, and Suite. A toolbar displays options that change with each menu option, so it's never cluttered or hard to find what you're looking for. Once you choose an icon, you can apply the effects and tweaks in a sidebar menu that also shows your history of changes, which was a very nice touch. The editing tools are basic and allow you to crop, flip, or resize the image. Under Color, you can adjust the brightness and contrast, and instantly apply a sepia or grayscale effect. The Effects let you blur or sharpen the image, but also include options to quickly pixelate your image or make it look like an oil painting. The Tools section is where you can add text, or draw on the image freeform, and turn your image into a collage, mosaic, or panorama. Finally, the Suite tools let you upload your image to Facebook or Flickr or send it through e-mail. We liked that most options are easily set with a slider and you can instantly see how it changes your image, and just as importantly, easily undo any changes you've made.
PhotoPad Image Editor's slider approach might not give you the control you'd want if you were an image editing pro, but for the casual photographer, it's a great way to tweak your image and apply some very polished effects. It's so easy to use that most won't even need to crack open the Help file to use it. Best of all, it's free, so you've got nothing to lose by trying the program out.

PhotoPad image editing software is a photo editor for Windows. It allows you to edit and apply effects to photos and other images. When editing photos you can crop, rotate and resize and, if required, add effects like sepia tones, red eye reduction as well as the ability to change the hue, saturation and brightness levels plus more.
Additional features include: Crop, rotate and flip photos and images. Load gif, jpg, psd, png, bmp picture formats and more. Edit hue, saturation, brightness and contrast. Apply effects such as sepia tones, greyscale, red eye reduction and more. Preview effects before applying. Easy deletion of each applied effect without removing other applied effects. PhotoPad can be added to your right click menu for easy access.
What's new in this version: General updates and bug fixes.

eM Client

eM Client manages multiple e-mail accounts well, but its free version is limited by how many accounts it can support. It makes up for it with abundant style, a relatively easy setup, and great features, though.
This program behaves like a typical e-mail manager, akin to Outlook or Thunderbird. In addition to letting you manage multiple e-mail accounts, eM Client will organize your calendar, meetings, contacts, and more for you so you don't have to think about it. You can get right to work with this client by inserting your e-mail and letting it slowly populate all of the rest of the information it needs. It has a widget for most of the popular e-mail providers and even lets you import from other clients like Outlook. It usually works without a hitch, but it may give you some difficultly if you have two-step verification on the account you're trying to set up. The program only accepts two accounts if you use the free version, so you'll need to upgrade to Pro if you want unlimited accounts. Either way, the program sports a gorgeous layout that supports color-coding and multiple themes. There's even a built-in chat that supports ICQ, Jabber, Yahoo, and most of the other popular IM clients.
eM Client is so loaded with features that it's easy to forget it only supports two accounts. While this could be a burden for some, others won't have a problem. If you're happy with that limitation, this program rewards you with a stylish layout and plenty of control over your accounts

Convert YouTube To MP3

Convert YouTube to MP3 applies to the developer, this freeware, and its function; namely, to convert audio tracks from YouTube videos into MP3s you can play anywhere. It can process batches and save files in several high-quality formats like AAC and Ogg Vorbis. It's easy to use, but it proved a little clunky, too, and its installer includes a few too many "extras." Although you can decline them, these optional downloads might trigger your security software, as happened with ours.
After several attempts, we were able to install Convert YouTube to MP3. The program's user interface is very plain but not unattractive. Its main tab, Downloads, has fields for entering YouTube URLs and selecting a destination folder, and we could select Preferred Quality: MP3, ranging from 22kHz/64kbs (just awful) to 44kHz/192kbs (much better); or Video, with settings optimized for playback on video gear (or Best Available). We pasted a target and pressed "Start." The program quickly converted the 2:37 cartoon's soundtrack to an MP3, but it froze when we tried to return from the Progress tab to the Download tab. In the end, we had to close it via the Task Manager. We tried again with a different video and got better performance, but the program balked at opening the destination folder, which wasn't the one we'd set before. However, once again it converted the file.
Although Convert YouTube to MP3 performed adequately at it main task, its bugginess suggests you try one of the many other tools that grab and convert audio from YouTube, which is full of free music, sometimes unavailable anywhere else.
